HYPNOTHERAPY FOR WEIGHT LOSS
When I work with people that want to lose weight the most important thing to me is health. Second to health is you having confidence in YOU; whatever you look like. I am very careful to manage expectations and remain realistic. I can absolutely help you lose weight but I cannot help you to become a weight that would only be achieved through you never eating “bad” foods again. If you work a 75 hour week we would not work out a plan that involves you spending three hours a day prepping healthy meals, neither would I help you feel motivated to exercise for many hours a week. Everything we do will be personalised towards you. Together we discuss what is achievable for you with regards to your eating habits and how much spare time you have to exercise. In 2001 I graduated university with a degree in Financial Economics but thankfully in 2008 after a short career in The City of London a course in clinical hypnosis & psychotherapy led me up path that would change my life forever.
Before I had finished the course, people were asking if I could help them fix their problems. Help them lose weight, stop smoking, break habits. I soon had a therapy room near to the office, closely followed by a room in Harley Street. I was working 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in a busy investment bank and then racing to my therapy room to see clients. Something had to change. In 2009 I decided to win the rat race by leaving my employer to set up as a full time, self-employed hypnotherapist. It was soon after this that Sue and I decided to write our HypnoGastricBand programme. One of my first clients came to see me to help them with weight loss and I have continued, week in week out, to help many other people with their weight loss battle.
In more recent years I have published a hypnobirthing book, furthered my studies and therapeutic capabilities with a masters degree (MSc) in Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychology and taught many other hypnotherapists some of my techniques.
In 2011 after the birth of my first daughter I chose to focus on my practice in Farnham, Surrey alongside day workshops around the country.
- Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis with Psychotherapy from the Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis (DHP)
- Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma from the National Council for Hypnotherapy
- Masters Degree in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology from Middlesex University & Professional Development International

About Hypnotherapy with Juliet
I ask everyone I work with to come for a free initial consultation before we begin therapy. This session lasts around an hour and is for us to get to know each other and discuss the presenting issue. I have a list of questions that I will ask which enable me to find the best way to work. You can also ask any questions you may have. There is no commitment to book further sessions after this initial consultation but when you choose to we can book you in for the next available appointment.
I am able to give an idea of how many sessions you will need at the initial consultation but everybody is different and neither of us really know how you will feel after each session. On average people come for around four sessions, however whether you book another session is always at your discretion. Some people find regular sessions beneficial even when we have solved the original presenting issue. At the end of each session we discuss whether another session would be beneficial.
I generally work in a solution focused way, looking forward to your future instead of looking back. However in some situations I feel the right path is a psychotherapeutic one and we will look back to the past to find what we need to do to make changes for your present.
The initial consultation is always free. From there on sessions cost £80 and last for one hour..
The HypnoGastricBand is a five session process and costs £450.
Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss
When I work with people that want to lose weight the most important thing to me is health. Second to health is you having confidence in YOU; whatever you look like. I am very careful to manage expectations and remain realistic. I believe in using hypnotherapy techniques to improve your relationship with food, your food cravings and your desire to exercise. Healthy eating these days is a minefield. Do we go with low fat, low sugar, eat what we want, stop fat and sugar, count calories, juice, shakes, fast, 5-2, 2-5 etc. Every one of my weight loss clients confesses to having tried everything and I suspect this is part of the problem. I personally have a vested interest in sugar, research is starting to show us links between sugar, alzheimer’s and heart disease. Having researched this myself I decided to quit sugar around 6 months ago. With of course a break for Christmas and another one for Easter! This is not particularly straightforward though. I was shocked at some of the foods that contain sugar; mayonnaise, stock cubes, gravy, most salad dressings, most crisps, most breads, sauces, spreads, pre cooked meats – the list is endless. The likelihood is, if you quit sugar you are going to be healthier. It does not however guarantee weight loss, or body confidence. Weight loss (I mean fat loss), realistically can only be achieved by eating less, exercising more or a combination of the two. Body confidence – well that’s a whole other matter!
When I use hypnosis to help others lose weight I try not to harp on about quitting sugar. Hypnosis for weight loss is not another fad diet, it’s a change for life. It’s about finding a realistic way of eating and exercising (when possible) that can be maintained for life. If you can’t live without chocolate cake you’ve got to eat the chocolate cake … but sensibly! I want to help others lose weight but health is a priority. I know plenty of slim people that live on chocolate. The calorie count of a few chocolate bars a day isn’t huge. If not much else is being consumed they probably aren’t too overweight. They probably aren’t too healthy either! I recognise though that whilst some may say they’d feel happy if they lost two stone, the reality is it might not bring the happiness and confidence they thought it would.
I feel a huge part of weight loss hypnotherapy is about ensuring confidence in yourself. When a client comes to see me I give them my special weight loss rules that can be maintained for life, I do not recommend cutting out any foods or eating different foods. I spend sessions working on reasons for over eating if this is a problem and ideas to change this habit. I do work on enhancing the desire for healthier options and aversions to problem foods if requested. I will help you to find motivation to exercise keeping in mind the time you have to do so. I will also spend a large part of sessions working on body confidence. It is so important to feel comfortable with who you are – of course providing you are healthy with it.
Location & Privacy
All therapy sessions are held in my designated therapy room at home. There is direct access from outside so you do not need to come into my house and I keep at least 10 minutes between clients so your privacy is maintained.
